My name is Indy. Greg and Sharon are my Pappa and Mamma. I get to go every where with Papa. I am his shadow. What I am going to do is share with you how I see and hear things that are going on. Sometimes all I hear is blah, blah, blah. Other times I hear really exciting things. Sometimes things are really quiet and I get to lay around. Then there are times things get really exciting and Pappa gets all worked up over something.
Brand new day. Pappa was out this morning walking up and down the rows of the vineyard. He was lifting the bird netting off of the vines. I thought he was trying to catch the birds that get stuck in the net, but he just would walk and lift, walk and lift and didn’t even slow down to see if there any birds. Boring!! He did stop every now and again and taste the grapes. I love the grapes, but when I go to eat them I get in trouble. He says, “Indianna Jones, don’t you eat those, they will make you sick.” Why do people get all the good food. Maybe later I will sneak on back and eat them. I got tired of walking up and down the hills with him. It is much nicer to lay in the sun at the top of the vineyard and wait for him to come back up the hill. Pappa should try it sometime.
Brand New Day. Mama and Papa made me get up before it was even light out. That means it is going to be a busy day. We went right outside and Papa started the tractor and was moving bins and Mama was lifting nets. As soon as the sun was coming up a car full of workers showed up. I don’t know why the other dogs bark so much when they get here. I like them. They pet me and sometimes they share there lunch with me if I stare at them along enough. But today there was no time to play. They went right out to the vineyard and started picking grapes and I started eating them. Papa told Mama to put me in the house. I guess they didn’t want me to get another belly ache from to many yummy grapes.
Brand new day. Papa is making me get up as soon as the sun comes up. Good thing it is still warm out. I hate to get out of my warm bed when it’s cold. Off to the winery Papa and I go. The winery is very busy and I have to pay close attention so that I don’t get run over by a forklift. Though they are all very good drivers. The floors are kept so clean that I don’t even have a chance to sneak a grape. Papa is very busy so I just wander from person to person to get my ears scratched. They all take just a minute and then they are off and running. We get to go to the winery again in the afternoon. I love harvest!
